The 2012 Gold Miniature Dollar is part of a unique eight coin set containing all of Australia's original decimal designs in 99.99% gold. Each of these coins are struck in the same miniaturised size (11.15mm). This dollar features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and Stuart Devlin's iconic 'Mob of Roos' design on the reverse.
The gold miniature set was limited to a population of 2000 and was issued in a speciality red wooden case. The set was created as the Royal Australian Mint wanted to create an affordable way to obtain a full set of Australia's stunning circulating coins in pure gold.
